What You Need to Know

Before your first HauteBox Class

Hey we know it. Getting in a hot room for the first time isn’t easy. But we can make the process simple. Here is everything yo wanted to know but never wanted to ask about your first haute class. .

What you'll feel

Well, you’ll feel hot in a heated class. You may feel light-headed or nauseous. Don’t panic.  These are often quite normal. Nausea is the release of toxins into the blood stream; light-headedness is a result of bringing fresh oxygenated blood into the body. In both instances, just have a seat on your mat, keeping your head elevated above the heart, and these feelings will pass.

Eating before?

We advise not to eat any large meals at least 2 hours before class. Having a large meal in your belly may make you feel a bit nauseous. If you must eat before class, we recommend a snack that is high in protein. Avoid energy and high-caffeinated drinks before class, as these may make you feel jittery.

STAY or LEAVE?

Do your best to stay in the hot room for the duration of class. If you begin to feel light-headed or dizzy, Just have a seat on your mat. Avoid laying down as that may exacerbate what you are feeling. If you feel you may need assistance, alert your instructor who will provide immediate aid and assist you out of the room and into the hands of a caring staff member. Remember, once you leave the room, your instructor can no longer see you.

Water intake

It is important that you hydrate before and after class. Coconut water is an excellent source of electrolytes and is highly recommended for either during or after class.

Etiquette

Please, stay off of your phone. No videoing unless explicit permission has been granted by the instructor or studio for a specific purpose. Savasana is a quiet time – sometimes the only quiet time another practitioner in the room may get during the day.  Please respect the savasana and enter and exit class as quietly as possible.

What to wear

We recommend you wear breathable materials like dry-wick fabrics. Under garments should be snug fitting and keep everything out of sight and in place. Wearing anything made of cotton is not advised, because as cotton gets wet, it gets heavy, which makes class more difficult.
